Installation CS-835RKE

Remote Keyless Entry System

Control Module MountingThe control module should be mounted in a concealed location. Placement will effect the distance from which the transmitter can control the unit. Because the RF receiving antenna extends from the module, the wire antenna should be routed at least 1/2 inch away from the nearest metal. DO NOT alter the length of antenna wire or route it with any other wiring. ! DO NOT GROUND THE ANTENNA WIRE !

Mounting Locations
DO NOT MOUNT THE CONTROL MODULE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT
Under dash mounting: If locating the control module under dash, the unit should be placed as high as possible so as not to interfere with the driver's feet.

Driver's Side under dash mounting provides easy location for wiring. Also, the left side of the dash has more metal and wiring which could cause decreased remote control range. ALWAYS PLACE UNIT AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE FOR BEST CONCEALMENT AND OPERATING RANGE.

Passenger Side under dash mounting is often the best location for operating range and concealment. Removing the glove box often reveals excellent mounting locations for the control board. Extra wiring may be required to route wiring across the dash area.

Under Seat Mounting may be used, however it may not be an advantage for the following reasons:
1) The seat is made of steel framework and springs, this blocks RF and the low mounting location also limits RF receiving.
2) The control unit can be exposed to excessive moisture from water and spilled drinks. This moisture stays in the carpet padding causing corrosion to the circuit board which is not covered by our warranty.

Mounting Components

LED Mounting (optional, not included in kit)
LED should be located in a visible location on the dashboard or console. Many vehicles now have knockout panels which provide excellent locations for LED's. Drill a hole in chosen location, route LED wires through hole and press LED firmly in place.

Emergency Override Switch Mounting
This switch has a multipurpose function, used for emergency override and programming. Mount the switch in a hidden location. The user MUST be able to access this switch in an emergency as well as access it for programming functions. Drill a hole in a chosen location. Make certain there is enough room on the back side so that the switch wires will not accidentally short out on any metal. Use the supplied nuts and washers to secure the switch in place.

Wiring
Main Harness: 10 Pin 18 Gauge Wires

We recommend that you use a meter when checking for +12 volts and ground connections. Newer cars are not forgiving when using the "OLD TEST BULB" method. If you are not sure what you are doing, THEN STOP. It is much cheaper to pay someone that has done this for a living then for you to experiment and cost you some BUCKS.

Yellow Wire: IGNITION SWITCHED "ON" and "START" +12 VOLTS
Connect to an Ignition wire (or fuse in the fuse box) that shows +12 volts when the key is in BOTH the "ON" and "START" positions.

Orange Wire:(-) Negative Starter Disable Output (optional)
This wire is connected to Terminal 85 of a relay for the starter disable. Connect terminal 86 to the yellow Ignition switched wire. Cut the vehicle's starter wire. Connect one half to terminal 30 and the other half to terminal 87a of the relay. (Requires a SPDT relay part number XX-402A, XX-402B or XX-402PB)

Pink Wires (2): Dome Light Illumination / Aux. 2 (optional)
Connect one wire to the vehicle's door pin switch wire and the other to either ground or +12 volts, depending on the door switch polarity. Negative door switch connect to ground, positive door switch connect to +12 volts. If dip switch #3 is turned off, this output becomes Auxiliary Output #2, which can be used to activate other external devices such as Remote Car Start, Window Roll Up modules etc.. Think of these two wires as "what goes in, will come out" when you operate this function from the remote.

Green/White Wire: (-) Horn Output (optional)
Connect to horn relay at the steering column or add a relay.

Purple Wire: (-) Passenger Door Unlock
Connect to unlock circuit for all doors. When using this feature, the blue door unlock wire must be connected to the drivers door only. This feature is to unlock ALL doors by pressing the unlock button twice. The first press unlocks only the drivers side door then the second press unlocks all other doors. Remember that the blue unlock wire is for the drivers side only.

Black Wire: Chassis Ground
Connect to body metal of the vehicle using a sheet metal screw. Always remove paint around surface to get the best possible connection. Behind drivers kick panel has many good places for a good solid ground. A poor ground connection can cause weird or poor performance to the system.

Gray Wire: (-) Remote Output #1(optional, requires relay)
Connect to terminal 85 of relay. Connect terminal 86 to +12 volt constant. Connect terminal 87 to +12volt constant or ground. Connect terminal 30 to device to be activated.

Red Wire: +12 Volt POWER
Connect to Constant +12 Volt power source using the supplied 10 Amp Fuse and holder. Like the ground connection, don't cheat on the POWER SOURCE. A good source of power is always at the battery, but in most cases, there is plenty of POWER at the fuse box. Make sure not to tap into a source that is UNDER RATED or any source that controls the Anti Lock brake system or Air Bags. Check the cars manual for proper fuse ratings. If all else fails, go to the battery.

White Wire: +12 Volt Flashing Parking Light Output (optional)
Connect to any parking light or to the parking light output at the back of the headlight switch. ! DO NOT CONNECT TO DASH DIMMER CIRCUIT !

LED Plug: 2 pin 22 Gauge Red Connector (optional)
Connect LED to the RED connector on the main module. This is an optional accessory that can be purchased separately.

Override Switch Plug: 2 pin 22 gauge Blue Connector
Connect Override switch (mandatory) to the Blue connector on the main module. You need this connection for programming and for emergency override. This is a MUST.

Door Lock WiringBlue Wire: (-) Negative Unlock/ (+) Positive Lock Output
Connect to factory unlock relay or to relay to activate motors.

Green Wire: (-) Negative Lock/ (+) Positive Unlock Output
Connect ot factory lock relay or to relay to activate motors.

Red Wire: +12 Volt Constant
Connect to terminal 85 of relay for activating reverse polarity and after market door locking systems. This wire supplies the power for the relay coil only. Do not use this wire to power the motors themselves.

Programming Dip SwitchesOption Programming
There are 4 dip switches under the access door of the main module for point of installation programming. Dip switch #4 has no function.

Dip Switch #1: Door Lock/Unlock Pulse time
ON   = Pulse Time of .75 Seconds
OFF = Pulse Time of 3 Seconds
This means that when you lock your doors, the main brain will send an electric pulse of .75 or 3 seconds to the door lock relay. Some cars require a longer pulse to lock or unlock the doors. A typical situation would be the Mercedes car that requires a longer pulse.

Dip Switch #2: Ignition Controlled Lock/Unlock
ON   = Lock/Unlock With Ignition
OFF = No Lock/Unlock with Ignition
This means that if you select Lock/Unlock with ignition, every time you get in your car and start it, the doors will lock and unlock when you turn the car off.

Dip Switch #3: Dome Light or 2nd Auxiliary Output
ON  = Dome Light Enabled
OFF = 2nd Auxiliary Output
This means if you select on, when you press the Lock Button and hold for at least one second, it will turn your dome light on. Other wise this would be used for a Remote Car Starter or Window Roll up module.

Dip Switch #4: Not Used

Transmitter ProgrammingThis system uses code learning to learn up to 3 different transmitter codes.

1) Turn Ignition switch on 3 times quickly (on/off/on/off/on) then lights will flash once. Make sure to leave the ignition switch in the "ON" position.
2) Push and hold the override switch. The lights will flash 3 times. The system is mow in program mode.
3) Press button #1 on the transmitter. Lights will flash once to confirm the transmitter is programmed. Press button #1 on another transmitter within 5 seconds to program a second remote.

Note 1: If only one transmitter is being programmed, continue holding button #1 for about 5 seconds. This prevents unauthorized code and noise from entering the system.

Note 2: Program mode is exited automatically after 5 seconds of last code transmission or once three new codes have been programmed. The Alarm System will Lock the door after programming. Press the remote again to unlock the doors.

4) Turn off Ignition Switch.
